A flock of pink flamingos landed in downtown St. Paul’s Mears Park on Tuesday.
More of the colorful — but plastic — birds will pop up at downtown parks though July 11, all part of a campaign to promote Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. The nonprofit group Como Friends is recording the fanciful travels of the zoo’s actual flamingos in a blog found at comofriends.org.
Minneapolis has its “Minne” creature in its lakes….now St. Paul has pink flamingos in its parks.
Como Friends is launching a campaign with the plastic birds to draw attention to the
Como Zoo’s Community Night on July 11th.
SAINT PAUL, MINN., June 27, 2011 – The M Group and Como Friends, the non-profit partner of Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, are launching a guerilla campaign led by a flock of artificial garden flamingos that will appear in Saint Paul parks starting June 28.
The campaign, featuring the plastic flamingos, will also record the flamingos’ travels through the downtown parks in a blog found at www.comofriends.org.
